Il ne se passe pas une semaine où le sujet du mapping objet/relationnel n'est pas évoqué dans les blogs. Le dernier en date à s'exprimer est Clemens Vasters avec un avis assez tranché :"(...) Many of the proponents of O/R mapping that I run into (and that is a generalization and I am not trying to offend anyone – just an observation) are folks who don't know SQL and RDBMS technology in any reasonable depth and/or often have no interest in doing so. It may be worth exploring how tooling can better help the SQL-challenged instead of obscuring all data access deep down in some framework and make all data look like a bunch of local objects ".

The Science and Technology Facilities Council in the UK reports that an international team of more than 50 astronomers from Europe, the U.S. and Australia has released the largest digital survey of the Milky Way, composed of some 200 million unique stellar objects. The IPHAS (INT Photometric H-alpha Survey of the Northern Galactic Plane) will soon include 800 million objects. Manipuler des tables de références est toujours le plus laborieux dans une application Web : il faut les lire, y insérer des données, y effacer d'autres lignes, les modifier, les rechercher. Les Framework intègrent tous des classes spéciales pour faciliter ce travail, et DB_OO2 applique ce principe tout en utilisant les Data Objects de PHP.
